The Science and Freedom for Everyone Foundation ("the Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") operates as a California-based 501(c)(3) non-partisan research and educational organization. The Foundation is dedicated to promoting community health and scientific literacy by conducting independent research and providing evidence-based education to the general public. Because our educational and research activities span all 50 states, we adopt the highest national standards for data transparency and user control.

1. Universal Privacy Standard

Regardless of your state of residence, we provide all website visitors with the rights typically reserved for residents of high-protection states (like California, Virginia, and Connecticut). This includes the right to know, access, and delete your personal data.

2. Information We Collect (Notice at Collection)

We collect information to facilitate research and professional collaboration:

• Direct Identifiers: Name, email, and phone number (collected via HubSpot forms).
• Professional Credentials: CVs, medical license numbers, and area of expertise (collected for Task Force vetting).
• Digital Activity: IP address, geolocation (state-level), and website interaction data (collected via cookies).
• Inferences: We may infer your professional interest based on which State Trend categories you interact with most frequently.

3. How We Use Data (Non-Commercial)

The Institute is a research entity, not a data broker. Your data is used to:

• Verify professional standing for the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB).
• Distribute Research Briefings and timely research updates.
• Maintain our research dissemination infrastructure (Digital Ops).

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We process your data under the following lawful bases: Consent (for newsletters/alerts), Contract (for Board member agreements), and Legitimate Interest (for verifying professional credentials to protect the integrity of our research).

4. Your Rights & Controls (The 50-State Guarantee)

• Global Privacy Control (GPC): Our site recognizes and honors GPC signals. If your browser is set to "Do Not Track" or GPC, we automatically restrict data collection to "Essential Cookies" only.
• Right to Access & Portability: You may request a machine-readable copy of all data we have associated with your profile.
• Right to Deletion: You may request that we delete your record. (Note: We may retain minimal data required for IRS compliance or state charitable solicitation records). We retain financial and board records for 7 years per IRS guidelines; non-active volunteer data is purged after 24 months of inactivity.
• Correction: You may update your professional credentials at any time via your HubSpot member portal.
• Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Data: You may request that we limit the use of your professional credentials or license numbers solely to the purpose of verification for the Scientific Advisory Board.

5. Children's Privacy

Our research is intended for an adult professional audience. We do not knowingly collect information from children under the age of 16. If we discover such data has been collected, it will be purged immediately.

6. Security & Data Sovereignty

We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) and secure CRM environments (HubSpot) to protect your professional data. As a California corporation, your data is processed and stored under the jurisdiction of the United States.

For users outside the United States, please note that your data is transferred to and processed in the US. We utilize Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and HubSpot's Data Processing Agreement to ensure your data receives a level of protection equivalent to that in the EU.
